Our mission statement
We strive to provide the best care to all dogs who come into our pound. Our mission is every dog that comes into the pound , leaves to a loving forever home.
The Polis Municipality Pound is run by a dedicated group of core volunteers. Every day these volunteers clean, feed and give medication if required. They also spend time to help the dogs with any anxiety and improve the dogs’ social skills. They provide repairs and upkeep of the kennels as needed. In addition there is a group of volunteers who come to walk our dogs or spend time to help socialize our dogs.
Every dog who enters the pound is given flea/tick treatment and a worming tablet. They are taken to the vet and given a Parvo injection if a puppy or a blood test if 6+ months old. Based on the the blood test treatment is started if indicated. All dogs who appear unwell or have injuries are taken to the vet and treated immediately. All our dogs are fully vaccinated and spayed/neutered when old enough.
All this is made possible with the support of a caring and generous community.
We have a Facebook page and group to help us home the dogs in our care. Dogs are homed in Cyprus, UK and Germany at present. We do a thorough home check and review all applications to ensure the dogs get homes that will be forever homes. We maintain contact with the new dog owners to ensure they continue to thrive.
